Already 21 percent of companies are using Storage Virtualization. That number is set to more than double as 26 percent of companies report on plans on taking on storage virtualization projects in the next six to twelve months. That’s the results of a survey by F5 Networks of 324 companies of 1000 employees or more in the US and Europe during the months of February and March 2008.
Europe leads the US in this area with 37 percent of companies already deploying Storage Virtualization.
One big reason for adopting Storage Virtualization is to save money. It’s estimated that 20 percent of IT staff budget is allocated to time spent in managing stored assets. In Europe, only 10 percent of staff time is spent on storage. But in both cases, storage management can be expensive.
86 percent of US companies and 93 percent of European companies that have taken on Storage Virtualization have been successful in meeting at least one their objectives for the technology.
