Informationweek recently published the results of a satisfaction survey given to 278 companies that have actively been trying out or at least kicking the tires of SOA technologies. Two-thirds of the respondents found the technology met or exceeded their expectations. That’s great. But one-third of adopters were disappointed — and the negative perspective is the one portrayed by InformationWeek (The SOA Gamble: One In Three Companies Are Disappointed).

But it it really negative? The technology is pretty new and the hype has been high. If one-third of the people don’t feel like they got what they expected, that’s maybe not bad. The president or congress would be flying high if they had approval ratings of 68 percent.
On top of that, only 15 percent of respondents felt that business goals weren’t met with their SOA projects, while everyone else thought at least some goals were satisfied with the technology.
